Soundlab 1: Engage
  • Cool, ordered black vinyl from dischord, I'll grab colored vinyl from bandcamp. I really hope you guys used that track of Jason doing the news anchor voice. And then that other thing you recorded... :D I make these comments public to force your hand! mwahahaha

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

The news anchor is in there! the 2nd thing will be leaked on YouTube deftly when the iron of metal is hot!

  • I still say "are your children texting velcro?!" when I see the local news is on. XD

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Dude, refresh my memory on that one! (O_O)

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Oh wait! I remember... THE OUTTAKES!!!!! I should put those up!

  • flan November 2010

Yes! I might have accidentally ordered two copies not seeing the colored one coming but whatever these songs rule

Now I'm just waiting for that And We Washed Our Weapons In The Sea reissue!

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Wooo- I'm not sure if Lovitt plans on repressing this 7" vinyl- so may have been a good investment for The Future™! I haven't started on the Weapons artwork - I'm guessing it won't be out until next year since I haven't gotten a go-ahead to start that. But then again that is exactly 10 years since its release in 2001 so maybe it makes more sense. A factoid though: "Weapons" was recorded in 1999- sat two years on a shelf in label-limbo.

  • commonercommoner November 2010

    ORDERED!

  • Other in-studio memory:

    WHO CAN IT BE NOW?!

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Oh - I won't forget that Studio Memory™. Heh heh. *shadez*

  • commonercommoner November 2010

Wow. Soundlab 1 sounds like its from a darker side of Conglomerate International. I like!

  • alex November 2010

    purchased! love the bandcamp.

  • jacobslippers November 2010

I think the general consensus is thumbs up. Now, I'd be interested to see if Nate comes out with a new Out_Circuit album as he mentioned on here a few weeks ago…

@ Frodus > what's the key to redeeming the QR code? scanning with computer camera I presume?

  • StuStu November 2010

I like the album design. It looks strikingly similar to the diagram in this Qabalah article.

  • math November 2010

    wow!

  • Tysetsfire11 November 2010

Ordered both vinyls! Songs sound great. I agree with commoner, it does sound like Conglomerate International. So excited to have new Frodus!

  • lokiboy101 November 2010

Really dug this one, agree about the Conglomerate vibe. Got me so nostalgic I just had to put on "Disconnection Imminent!"

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Commoner was right with this: "a darker side of Conglomerate International."

Since it was when we were learning the old Conglomerate songs for the re-release of FCI + shows with Liam along with current-events and all that I kind of got into the mindset of Conglomerate again. So we wrote the songs at least in my mind as some sort of extension to Conglomerate International. Surveillance-era, etc... seemed poignant with the times to be back there but in a darker context because of the reality of the crumbling of a big economic strucuture, etc... good observation!

On a side note I am happy with my screams- was in top-form doing lots of Yoga and breathing! :D Hahha! Old man Frodus needs jazzercise and not just high-sugar spazzy intakes (note: EARLY frodus circa 1993 was fueled by a steady diet of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hostess Pies)!

    @Stu
    - didn't see the connection, I'll read the article!

I hope there is a new Outcircuit too- if it does get all vibey/Asian I think it'll be the best one yet!

Now to focus on a new TRAVELERS OF TYME hyper-limited release next week + a Triobelisk "Xrystal" compilation of remixes + extra tracks!!!!! Everything is happening at once.

  • alex November 2010

Whoa, no one I ask ever remembers TMNT Hostess Pies! I just remember they were filled with green goo (mutagen?) and delicious.

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Indeed! It fueled the FCI- I can say high-sugar diet fueled early FCI- hence the spazzcore and why I could only last a 30 minute setlist back then, hahah! While you are at it- sign this petition to Hostess, I did: http://www.petitiononline.com/288/petition.html

  • jehujehu November 2010

ordered!! got both copies of the vinyl from bandcamp. it's actually my first Frodus purchase ever. and then i joined the message board. now i shall commence discovering all things of Frodus past. i like to do things in reverse.

  • commonercommoner November 2010

Really digging these new songs!!! I love that the lyrics pop up on my ipod... cant wait for something tangible, the vinyls!

    @alex
and frodus : I always liked to eat the TMNT cereal...

    @jehu
: Welcome! might I suggest that you delve into Decahedron and The Cassettes as well...

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Good times! Welcome @Jehu- the Frodian history is fraught with many strange turns!

  • jehujehu November 2010

thanks for the suggestions @commoner. i've spent the past day or so pouring over Shelby's site...which is awesome. as a writer and a musician, it's been cool to read his thoughts/insights on the whole creative process. plus i love the easter eggs i found throughout the site.

speaking of which, @frodus, thanks for putting together such a killer site. i love the simplicity and the depth of it. (of course, i'm assuming that you're Shelby). if i'm making a total noob mistake on this forum, my utmost apologies! :)

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

Glad you dig it @jehu! Kinda wanted to reflect on the thoughts and processes about all my records to get those thoughts out there! Still need to add the last Triobelisk and stuff on the site!

  • alex November 2010

Whoa, Frodus is outselling Sufjan on bandcamp. Progress!

  • frodusfrodus November 2010

We'll see how long that lasts, heh!

  • commonercommoner November 2010

Whoa, I see the Colored Vinyl sold out already!

  • rybunal November 2010

so happy for this release! i have listened to it now OVER and OVER for the past week. Thnak you!

  • frodusfrodus November 2010
