So far this tour is awful, already been in one IED blast (everyone lived), living conditions compared to how I lived during my tour in Afghanistan, I'm living like a king, I have my own 12x12 room I share with 1 guy versus 5 guys in Afghanistan.
Shelby, since getting the Afghanistan war rugs fell through (my platoon sgt stole them from me), is there anything hard to get that you'd like me to look into getting from iRAQ?
whoa, intense... glad everyone ok. And quite the change in living quaters! Bummer about the rugs. You know me, I like tea-stuff (metal tea pots, etc..) and textiles. :) Very cassettes/indiana jones vibe. And to go on a deeper quest, you know I do game-design... it would be interesting if markets sold new hand-made versions of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Game_of_Ur - very ancient game from that region of the world. That would somehow be like ancient Triobelisk! haha.. even pyramid dice included!
I haven't been to the main bazaar yet but I intend too, there is a small bazaar within rock throwing distance, I'll ask them about the Royal Game of Ur and get back at you.
Hey bud, I even went as far as getting our interpreters to translate it into proper Arabic and some other dialects (Like the Kurds speak) and no one around here has heard of this game...in this area of southern Iraq. That being said I'm changing companies and going to Bravo Infantry Co. in my unit and they're about a hour's helicopter flight north of here so I'll try again there.
If you know anything more to help, I'd appreciate it.
